Back to Our Work Case Study — On-Camera Coaching

N Brown x AM2PM.

600,000 items a week. A workforce on camera for the first time. One film that caught all of it. Studio Forty Six produced a case study film inside N Brown's Shaw Distribution Centre in Greater Manchester. The site picks, packs and dispatches more than 600,000 items every week. N Brown is a heritage retailer founded in 1859. The film shows the operation behind next-day delivery, and the recruitment partnership with AM2PM that keeps it staffed. Most of the people on screen were in front of a camera for the very first time.

The client

A heritage retailer's logistics engine.

N Brown Group is one of the UK's top-ten digital clothing and footwear retailers. It's home to JD Williams, Simply Be and Jacamo, with a heritage stretching back to 1859 and 2.2 million active customers. Behind the next-day promise sits its Greater Manchester logistics operation. There, over a thousand colleagues pick, pack and dispatch more than 600,000 items every week. Keeping an operation like that staffed is the job of AM2PM, the logistics and warehousing recruitment specialists. They're a long-standing Studio Forty Six client.

The brief: show how it all comes together

AM2PM wanted a case study film showing the reality of their partnership with N Brown at the Shaw Distribution Centre. It had to show the scale of the operation, the people inside it, and how the right workforce makes next-day delivery actually happen. That meant filming a live warehouse without slowing it down. It also meant interviewing people across the site, almost all of whom had never been on camera before.

How we worked

This is the pillar we're built on: putting real people on camera and making them good at it. Across the shoot we met colleagues at every level of the operation, from the floor to the leadership team. We coached each first-timer until the nerves disappeared and the pride came through. No autocue, no stiff corporate delivery. Real people explaining real work, backed by the sheer scale of the site itself. Conveyor lines, pick towers, loading bays. A warehouse this size shoots like a film set if you know where to stand.

The result

A case study film that captures the magnitude, heritage and complexity of one of UK retail's great behind-the-scenes operations. It shows the partnership that powers it, too. Don't take our word for it:

"We absolutely love it and can't wait to share it with our colleagues. You really caught the magnitude, heritage, beauty and complexity of the operation — exactly what I'd hoped for."

FAQ

Common questions.

Can you film in a live operational warehouse?

Yes — we plan around the operation, not through it. Shift patterns, safety walkways and peak windows all go into the run of show before we arrive.

Most of our staff have never been on camera. Is that a problem?

It's our speciality. Almost everyone in the N Brown film was a first-timer. Coaching people to a confident, natural delivery is one of the three things we're built around.

What's a partnership case study film for?

Proof. For AM2PM it shows their biggest partnership in action. For N Brown it shows the operation to colleagues, candidates and stakeholders. One shoot, value both ways.
